The season we are in now asks for some thinking, it’s time to stop and look back. We can remember the good times, small and big achievements, people we’ve met, places we’ve been, things we’ve learned. But it’s also time to reflect on our flaws, bad attitudes, unhealthy habits and decide to do better in the future. The New Year gives us a chance to start over and, even though, resolutions are easier to make than to keep, it’s worth promising ourselves a more successful, more productive and happier year than the last one. Anyways, we all deserve a fresh start!

And talking about fresh starts, how about taking a look at some of the most commons New Year’s Resolutions? Maybe you’ll get inspired, maybe you’ll decide to step forward do something different. So, here we go:

10 – Quit smoking: Fighting an addiction is never easy, but hey, there’s no better time than now. You’ll feel healthier and you’ll get your breath back! There are tons of reasons to quit smoking and remember…other than your health you’ll also smell good!

09 – Volunteer: Have you thought about helping other people in a very special way? By volunteering you can make someone’s life better and actually make a difference in the community you live in. Help a person and the world will be a better place.

08 – Take a trip: People say that travelling is the only way to see the world in a different perspective. Get to know another culture, look outside the box. Visit somewhere new and you’ll be a whole new person, a better one, someone who can be taken out of the comfort zone.

07 – Save money: One of the most difficult things to do in life is to save money, one may say that life is too short and that we’re not aware of what’s going to happen tomorrow, however, having extra cash at the end of the next year is priceless! No pun intended!

06 – Manage your stress: Being stressed can be almost inevitable these days but, hey, being a little less stressed out is a matter of will power. Nobody likes to be around angry, moody people. Make an effort. Look for people that make you feel good. You’ll certainly be happier.

05 – Recycle more and go green: Let’s kill two birds with one stone! Besides helping the planet you can help your pocket. Re-usable bags are in nowadays and many supermarkets are cutting off a couple of cents if you spare a plastic bag. Recycle and separate your garbage, the earth can’t keep up with all the junk we produce!

04 – Lose some weight: Don’t do it if you don’t need it, of course! But staying fit helps you staying healthy, out go the junk and fast food. In come fruits, vegetables, brown rice, nuts and water. Feeling good with your body helps! Take some time to take care of yourself.

03 – Learn something new: We all have so much to learn, right? How about taking that French class you always wanted? Have you ever thought about building up a shelf? Finishing college? Getting a master’s degree? Do you want to play the guitar? Read that old book and learn something new!

02 – Fall in love: Nothing better than having that special one in your mind when you close your eyes! Open up! Be available. Go out, meet people, and give a chance. Being hurt sucks but there’s no other way to fall in love if you don’t take any risks. Maybe this year you’ll find your better half!

01 – Enjoy life: Make the best of your opportunities, spend time with people you love. Feel free to be happy and do things you enjoy doing, in short, seize the day!
